Are you impressed you know someone who knows the most powerful word in the world?
Some people claim to know the best wines or beers, or the best vacation spots.
Jeff York, a friend of mine, is a screenwriter, film critic, and publishes a blog about movies. If you want to know the best flicks, then Jeff is your go to guy. He predicted well in advance of the Academy Awards which movie was going to win the Oscar for best movie. I thought it was going to be Lincoln. He predicted Argo. I don’t know how he knew that.
But I digress…
In selecting the most powerful word in the world, you probably think I’m going to choose a word like, “please” or “thank you.” Yes, these are powerful words and I try to use them a lot. So “please” read on.
But before I divulge the most powerful word, I would like to disclose what I think are the most powerful words for me personally. I never would have made it through forty-six years of marriage without them. If you are married, I highly recommend these words, “Yes, honey, whatever you think.”
So what is the profound event that lead me to write this blog and made me feel compelled to disclose the most powerful word in the world.
I was exercising at the YMCA this morning and I ran into a casual friend. He came up to me and said, “Hey, buddy.”
“Hey buddy” is a neon sign that screams either I’ve forgotten your name or I’m so lazy I’m not going to go to the trouble to use it. I don’t really like this guy so much anymore.
So I believe the most important word in the world is your name.
When someone calls you by name it makes you feel good. It shows they care enough to remember it and that’s a good thing.
So next time, you see me, would you please consider calling me “David.”
