Open your eyes
It’s one of our biggest frustrations.

Phyllis Neill, my biz partner, and I speak to business owners and CEO’s about how to grow their businesses using the Internet, but many see the changes worldwide, but don’t understand how it impacts the future of their own businesses.

No one uses the paper Yellow Pages any more.  If you can’t be found on the Internet, then you and your business do not exist.

Business owners must pay close attention to two trends:

  • Content on the Internet is how businesses are found and evaluated
  • More and more prospects are searching and evaluating companies using mobile devices.

These numbers should get your attention:

1.   Since 2003 we have created as much digital content as we did since the dawn of civilization*

There’s so much content on line that if you want anyone to pay attention to your content it must  be interesting, compelling, and relevant.

 2.   Since 2000, the number of people connected to the Internet worldwide increased from 350 million to more than two billion.*

3.  Since 2000, the number of mobile phone subscriptions rose from 750 million to well over six billion.*

 4. By 2025 it’s predicted that most of the eight billion people on earth will be on line*

 5. Social media has overtaken porn as the #1 activity on the web

Buffer blog

Facebook has over 1.1 billion members; Google+ 500 million; Twitter close to 300 million

 6.  93% of marketers use social media for business

Social media is not an option anymore; it’s mandatory.

7.  Two new members join LinkedIn every second

Social media is not just social.  LinkedIn now has more than 225 million members.  Businesses that overlook LinkedIn will become irrelevant.

It’s not really whether a company will have an Internet strategy—it’s only a matter of when.
