Yes, that’s our cat, Molly.
Most cat owners would love to see their cat in a YouTube video on TV. Our cat, Molly, is literally on TV–and on the news.
Please note Molly’s sound asleep on a skinny flat screen TV. I have no idea how she got up there and why she doesn’t fall off. Of course, the big question is why she’s sleeping on the most uncomfortable object in the room.
We’ve lived with several cats, but we never meant to be cat owners. Many years ago, Tabby came to our front porch crying for food—so we put out a bowl of milk. Next thing I know Tabby’s living in our house and sleeping in our bed.
After Tabby passed on, there has been a string of cats: (Get it, ‘string’—cat’s love string)
- Rudy
- Lucy
- Callie (my wife’s favorite)
- Molly
Each of our cats had a unique personality, but all had common traits:
- They are really curious
- They rub against your leg
- They roll over and expose their stomachs
- They go to people that don’t like cats
- They love to get up high
- They love being rubbed and stroked
- They chatter when they see a bird
Cat owners know these commonalities and many more.
The point is that even though cats are different, they are all pretty much alike.
The same can be said about people.
In many ways we are just like cats. We may not roll over and show our stomachs, but just like other animals we are just as interested in food, sex, and safety.
But there is one common trait—that if we recognize-will make us successful in business and life.
With a cat—it’s all about the cat. The same is true of people.
My favorite quote is from Mary Kay Ash (Mary Kay Products)—one of the most successful business women of all times. She said, “Pretend that every person you meet has a sign around his or her neck that says, ‘Make me feel important.’
It works with cats and it will work with people.
